Niensberg was named after a city. A city that no longer exists. It was destroyed during the revolution. The lordly family that controlled the original cit of Niensberg was corrupted by a particularly charming fiend. The fiend corrupted the lordly bloodline which led to a couple centuries of misery for the slaves and serfs. When the revolution came the entire city was destroyed along with the fiendish bloodline. In its place a representative government was formed.
There are few examples of well run representative governments on Akithor. Niensberg is not amongst them. Human rights are definitely less important than profit in these lands. Neinsberg is the major trading hub in the region.
Each City elects a senator to send to Trelago City. There are eighteen senators. The senators elect a Senate Leader. Elections are every five years
Each city also elects a mayor and a sheriff every five years.
